Latex has become more mainstream in the past decade, and we’re seeing some sensational designers create spectacular latex art to be worn in and outside the bedroom. I value quality over quantity; you won’t find fast fashion listed in any of our Top 10s. Here are my top pics for this year. Soft Skin Latex
This business is only four years old and was founded by Gemma Pickerill. I love the use of pastel colours and thoughtfully designed creations. The lilac set pictured here is my favourite but Gemma also uses other beautiful colours like baby blue, blush pinks and peaches.
Each design is Inspired by historical clothing, fetish and queer culture, and handmade in the UK by Gemma and her team.
I love Gemma’s ethos, too– she doesn’t follow trends and refuses to mass produce. She’s conscious of ethical and sustainable production, causing the least damage possible to people, animals and the environment.
Lady Lucie Latex
Lady Lucie Latex has been around for quite some time, having launched in 2006. Her designs are recognisable, having been seen on numerous famous people. As a trained pattern cutter with a degree in fashion & textiles, Lady Lucie brings the principles of haute couture to fetish high fashion.
Each item is handmade in a studio in Hackney Wick in London.
Busted Brand
Founded in 2019, Busted Brand creates striking latex lingerie and clothing, all handcrafted from their Los Angeles studio. My favourite pieces include the Garter Bra and the Demented Catsuit.
Atsuko Kudo
Atsuko Kudo began creating intricate and unique designs with latex in 2001.
Since that time she has created an extensive range of bras, corsets, suspenders, playsuits, and uniforms as well as many other designs from XXS to XL. They also create in a large range of colours from pale to bold and in plain, leopard or lace styles.
Atsuko has dressed Lady Gaga and collaborated with numerous fashion houses to create striking outfits from her fetish fabric.
All creations are handmade in their London studio.
AW Brand
AW Brand was founded by Aidan Weiss in Brooklyn, NY.
AW specialises in carefully handmade latex designs that strive to be non-binary and all-inclusive.
Every piece is custom measured to suit any body type.
Tableaux Vivants
Tableaux Vivants latex was founded in 2009 by Sonia Agostino.
Under the creative vision of Sonia, the brand has built a solid foundation to continue creating high end luxury latex clothing that will influence and inspire style for seasons to come.
All pieces are handmade in Brooklyn.
Elissa Poppy
Elissa Poppy graduated with a degree in Contour Fashion BA (Hons) at De Montfort University, a world renowned course specialising in the design of lingerie. She has an enviable collection of lingerie designs and is a pioneer of Lacetex, a material that combines latex with exquisite guipure laces. Her creations come in a beautiful selection of colours including marble toned colourways.
Elissa makes all her creations from her London studio.
MMLatex
Founded in 2018, MM LATEX is an independent latex brand that emerged from a love of vintage fetishwear and alternative materials.
The designers have backgrounds in fashion design and pattern cutting and create unique pieces to make all clients feel beautiful, sexy and strong.
All pieces are handmade to order in their studio in rural Cheshire.
Baby Loves Latex
Baby Loves Latex is the latex brand of designer Renee Masoomian. I adore Renee’s creations which have a vintage flair. Renee pushes boundaries with her experimentation of latex–her latex lace is incredibly intricate, and her serpent designs are a favourite.
Renee has been lovingly crafting her latex creations in NYC since 2006.
FBLD
FBLD was born in 2015 by the designer Francesca Bellingeri to create bold, high-quality underwear and outerwear using the fetish fabric of latex.
Since then, Francesca has collaborated with Gucci and Saint Laurent to produce latex creations under the FBLD brand.
FBLD is now based in Vigevano, and Francesca has added to her creations with bras, underwear, and mini skirts, all handmade in Italy.
